Wow. The first week of launching my second book, Kill Don Juan, Save the Girl, has been a great surprise. The very first day of free promotion it ranked at #1 in one category and #2 in two other categories. I felt moved by the first reviews. I’m very grateful. Of course, this is only the beginning, but it’s an auspicious beginning. This is due to the program I followed to publish the book, including inviting beta readers to give me early feedback that turned out to be invaluable.
Some of those beta readers have shared the book with their own networks with their enthusiastic recommendations.
I also used a variety of promotional services. Some of these only take books during a free promotional period. Others have their own price restrictions and others have no restrictions at all. What these sites do is present the book to their audiences, whether in websites, Facebook or Twitter or through email campaigns. For this reason, the other elements of publishing, such as a good cover, a good tagline, a good synopsis and—let’s face it—a good book, are still key.
I have also been working with my own social media networks and I will continue to do that, and I will reach out to influencers on the web and other media.
One thing I found out is that many people who don’t own an ebook reader don’t realize they can read ebooks in their own computers or phones with an app. It’s no good to reach people who don’t realize they can download your ebook right away. It’s good to make sure people know their options.
If you don’t have a Kindle, for example, you can download the Kindle app for iPhone, Android, PC or Mac. Search for “Kindle app” from the device for which you want the app. Once you download and install the app, you can go to Amazon and download the book of your choice. To download Kill Don Juan, Save the Girl, go to http://amzn.to/2e1rrrk.
When you click on the button, Amazon will send the book to your device. Isn’t technology great? I’ll be back with more about all this soon. Cheers!
